What is the Pi Cycle Top indicator?

It compares two moving averages of Bitcoin’s price: the 111-day average and twice the 350-day average. When the faster average rises to meet the slower one, the market has historically been at or very near a cycle top. The name comes from 350 divided by 111 being close to π.

Track record

The averages crossed in April 2013, December 2013, December 2017 and April 2021, each within days of a major peak. It is not infallible: it did not fire at the second 2021 peak in November, and in the 2024–25 cycle the ratio rose only to about 0.74 of the trigger, so there was no signal at all.

How to read it

We show the ratio of the two averages: 1 means they have crossed (red zone). The closer the ratio gets to 1, the more stretched the market. Far below 1, as today, the indicator simply says the market is not in a blow-off top. It is a warning light for tops, not a buy signal.
